Interview on Laurey Buckland’s blog

TheInheritance

Well this is the penultimate day of my blog tour to promote my debut novel The Inheritance. And today I’m being interviewed by the lovely Laurey Buckland on her blog.

Since I approached her with the request to feature on her blog, Laurey has been nothing but supportive and friendly. She’s the author of the wonderful novel A Girl’s Guide to Fairy Tales and if you enjoy a funny, witty romance then this is the book for you. I’ve read it and really enjoyed it.

Please do take a look at the interview and Laurey’s blog. It’s definitely worth a visit.

If you missed any of my blog stops, you can find the details here. I hope you’ve enjoyed my blog tour so far and that you’ll join me again on Sunday when I finish up with an interview on Kate Frost‘s blog.

Interview with Martin Lake for ‘The Inheritance’

TheInheritance

I’m delighted to say that today as part of my blog tour to promote my debut novel The Inheritance, I’m being interviewed by Martin Lake on his blog.

Martin is the author of some truly wonderful novels, all of them historical fiction but also very diverse. The novels he’s written include a wonderfully imaginative sequel to Oliver Twist entitled Artful, which as the title suggests continues the story of the Artful Dodger, as well as a trilogy about England’s lost king Edgar Atheling in the 11th century and another novel set in medieval times about the Crusades.

Martin has been extremely supportive of me in my path to publication. Please do check out this interview and let me know what you think.

If you’ve missed any of my blog tour, you can read my guest post on Kate Frost’s blog which I did on Saturday here. My guest post on Joanne Phillips’s blog on Monday can be seen here. You can catch an excerpt of The Inheritance which was on Jade Reyner’s blog on Tuesday here. And my interview on Briana Vedsted’s blog which I did yesterday can be seen here.

An interview on Briana Vedsted’s blog

TheInheritance

I’m part way through my blog tour to promote my debut novel The Inheritance and today I’m being interviewed by the lovely Briana Vedsted on her blog.

Briana lives with her family on their ranch in Colorado. When she’s not helping out with farming, Briana enjoys writing amongst other things and has published a number of stories, the most recent being A Girl Named Cord. She is also the author of a fantastic blog which is where my interview is taking place.

Briana is always incredibly supportive of other writers and champions their work. Please do take a look at her blog and my interview. She’s asked me some great questions. I hope my answers interest you too.

If you missed my guest post on Monday over on Joanne Phillips’s blog you can read it here. On Saturday Kate Frost also hosted me for a guest post on her blog and you can catch it here. And yesterday Jade Reyner shared an excerpt from The Inheritance here.

Guest post on Joanne Phillips’s blog

TheInheritance

Hi all! I finally published my debut novel The Inheritance on Saturday. It was my official launch day and what an exciting time it’s been. I’ve been able to connect with friends and family on Facebook, many of whom I don’t see regularly, as well as with friends and many more writers who I don’t know on Twitter, promoting my book as I go.

I’ve seen my sales take off and my ranking on Amazon increase very quickly which is wonderful! Thank you to all who’ve helped and supported me at this crucial time of releasing my novel into the big wide world.

Today my blog tour continues.  I’m on a different blog every day this week. Please see here for details. Today I’m doing a guest post on how I came to publish The Inheritance on the lovely Joanne Phillips‘s blog.  In it I talk about the obstacles I had to overcome on my path to publication as well as who and what helped me to get to this point.  Please do take a look.

Joanne is the author of Can’t Live Without, The Family Trap and has recently published her latest book, which she describes as a ‘cosy mystery’, called Murder at the Maples, the first in a new series with her character Flora Lively.

Joanne has created a truly wonderful blog, packed with helpful information and advice about the world of self-publishing, as well as honest accounts of her own experiences of writing and coming to publication. Her blog is well worth a visit.

So see you over there!

PS Don’t forget you can buy The Inheritance from Amazon UK and Amazon.com.  I’m on Goodreads too and you can contact me on Twitter via @ElaineJeremiah

Dropped in it – WIPpet Wednesday

wednesdaybanner

OK so I know I’m really late with this. Last week I didn’t participate in WIPpet Wednesday either as I had a nasty stomach bug which I feel like I’m still recovering from. I nearly didn’t take part today as I’m still knackered, but I thought it’d be good to update my blog and share another excerpt from Reunion with you.

So I’m sharing 11 lines from chapter 9 as it’s the eleventh of September today. My thoughts are with everyone who lost loved ones in the 9/11 attacks twelve years ago.

Here’s my contribution for today:

How on earth did he…? Melissa. This had to be her doing, Anna thought pulling her suitcase along behind her, her arm aching. But she didn’t know his contact details… Don’t be so slow, Anna, she told herself, Mel could easily have opened your email account when you were away from your computer.

She could feel her face twisting into a half grin, half grimace as she made her way through the enormous thoroughfare of the station. Unsure whether to be mad or pleased with her friend for doing this, she reasoned that at least she wouldn’t be alone in a big city for a while.

Anna almost felt like dragging her heels as she reached the exit to the station. She paused for a moment standing motionless, surveying the landscape in front of her as though she were a statue. People brushed past her roughly and she heard them muttering about her being in their way, but ignored them. It was a hot day and a warm wind blew on her face as she was standing there.

I know this is a fairly cryptic piece to share, but I thought I’d tease you with it a bit more. Also I don’t want to give away too much of the plot, especially seeing as I’ve shared quite a lot of it already. 🙂

To take part in WIPpet Wednesday all you have to do is share an excerpt from your current WIP which correlates in some way with the date.  So it could be nine paragraphs from chapter eleven.  Then add your name to this linky.  Thanks as always goes to K. L. Schwengel for hosting.

‘The Inheritance’ is almost here!

TheInheritance

I wanted to update you all on my progress in publishing The Inheritance. I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be publishing it this Saturday 14th September and to launch it I’m having a blog tour. I’m so excited!

It’s been well over a year in the making – nearly two years in fact – but now it’s finally finished and it’ll be ready for you to download on both Amazon UK and Amazon.com from Saturday.

Some of my lovely fellow writers have agreed to host/interview me on their blogs as part of my blog tour. The dates are as follows:

Saturday 14th September I’ll be doing a guest post on Kate Frost‘s blog about how I became a writer.

Monday 16th September I’m doing another guest post on Joanne Phillips‘s blog about how I came to publish The Inheritance.

Tuesday 17th September you’ll have the chance to read an excerpt from The Inheritance on Jade Reyner‘s blog.

Wednesday 18th September Briana Vedsted will be interviewing me on her blog about the process of writing The Inheritance.

Thursday 19th September you’ll be able to read another interview with me on Martin Lake‘s blog where I talk a bit about myself and how I went about writing The Inheritance.

Friday 20th September Laurey Buckland will interview me on her blog where as well as talking about writing The Inheritance, you can find out what exactly I haven’t done in my life yet that’s on my to do list.

Sunday 22nd September I’ll draw my blog tour to a close by returning to Kate Frost‘s blog for an interview.

Phew!  That’s a lot of stops, but I really hope you’ll visit these wonderful writers’ blogs and find out a little bit more about how I came to write and publish The Inheritance.  I’ll also be updating my blog all next week so you’ll be able to keep track of what stage I’m at in it. 😀

Off to London again – WIPpet Wednesday

London

Hey everyone! I can’t believe it’s already a week since I last updated my blog. But I’ve been busy working on Reunion and it’s going really well. I did over 1000 words on Saturday which is the most I’ve ever done in one day! Yay! So I’m happy.

I’ve also been working on the final finishing touches to publishing The Inheritance. More on that soon…

For now though, here’s another excerpt from Reunion. I’m sharing a little over 28 lines from chapter 8 in honour of it being the 28th August today. This scene takes place a few weeks after last week’s excerpt. Anna is telling Melissa about her invite from her agent Peter Fletcher to come up to London again so that they can discuss how her book’s going.

Anna is not too sure she should go… Enjoy! (And yes I am aware that I’m posting this early! It’s cos I can! 🙂 )

Anna listened as Melissa banged about in the kitchen, slamming cupboards and clattering crockery around. What was she doing in there? It sounded like she was turning the kitchen upside down.

‘Coffee?’ she heard her yell.

‘Please.’ Anna smiled to herself wondering what had brought on this change of feeling in her friend.

Ten minutes later they were sitting in Anna’s front room drinking their coffee from Anna’s favourite coffee cups her parents had given her when she first got her own place. She was telling Melissa about Peter’s email and how it had made her feel.

Melissa told her she was being daft and that she should definitely go to London. He was her agent, she said in a no nonsense voice, and she had to go. Sometimes speaking to Melissa was like being told off by your mum, Anna thought to herself. And just like her conversations with her mother, she seemed to always end up being the one who did as she was told.

So Anna gave up her argument and agreed to go. Melissa was triumphant. You won’t be looking like that when it all goes wrong for me with Peter as it’s bound to, Anna thought darkly.

‘Why are you so happy anyway, Mel?’ she asked changing the subject.

‘Aren’t I allowed to be happy?’

‘Of course. But you know exactly what I mean and you’re being evasive again.’

Anna watched as a smile spread across her friend’s face.

‘Oh all right. I was going to keep it a secret until it’s definite. But I may as well tell you now as it seems fairly certain. I’ve been promoted.’

‘Oh yay!’ Anna leapt off the sofa and charged across the living room, giving her friend a big hug. ‘About time too.’

‘Exactly. And I needed something to celebrate. Anyway, when are you going to book that train ticket?’

If you would like to take part in WIPpet Wednesday simply post an excerpt of your most recent work on your blog. The rule is it must tie in some way with the date – so for today being the 28th August you might have 8 paragraphs from page 28. Or whatever takes your fancy. Then add your name to this linky. Thanks goes to K. L. Schwengel for hosting.
