OK, so not the most fantastic of titles but it’s the best I could do. I hope this WIPpet finds you well and getting into the swing of 2014.
For this week’s WIPpet Wednesday I thought I’d share with you 15 words from chapter 1 of my current WIP Reunion. Like many of my fellow WIPpeteers, I’m finding it hard to… well find parts to share that don’t give away half the plot.
So this week I’m keeping it short but sweet. This line is further on in the same chapter from last week’s excerpt. Anna is thinking about the people she might see at the school reunion.
It would be good to see Lizzie and Rachel again, but they wouldn’t necessarily go.
I will try and be less stingy with the excerpt next week! Looking forward to reading yours.
Wanna join in the WIPpet Wednesday fun? No problem – just share an excerpt from your current WIP on your blog. Make sure it relates to the date somehow. Then go here to add your details to the list. And you’re off!
Thank you K. L. Schwengel for hosting! 🙂
The obvious question… why wouldn’t they go? Why?! I personally like short, teasing excerpts, always leaves me wanting to read more.

Yes they do have a tendency to make you want more don’t they? Lizzie and Rachel… well Anna hasn’t seen them in years so isn’t sure she’ll see them at the reunion. 🙂

Yeah, I had the same question as Kate. The plot thickens. . . .

Questioned answered (possibly). See above.

Having just gone to a school reunion, I’m wondering the same thing–why not go? There must be a reason, and now I want to know what it is!

Anna’s not keen to go cos she had a bad time at school. Her BF Melissa thinks it could help lay some demons to rest. Anna’s not so sure… How did you find your reunion?

Sadly I live quite far from my high school these days, so it would be unlikely I would ever go to a school reunion anyway. (I’m obviously crushed). But I’m with Anna. What are the odds of the people you’d actually like to see again being there?

Indeed. You may get to see a whole bunch of people you’d really rather not. I actually got invited to a school reunion a couple of years ago. But I turned it down. School wasn’t the happiest time of my life.

I’m in the ‘have never gone’ and ‘wouldn’t go unless you dragged me kicking and screaming’ camp. 🙂

I think I’m with you on this one Kathi, despite writing a novel based around it! But it does make for such wonderful drama. 🙂

I never planned to go to my reunions, but was kind of sad to miss my tenth.

I was invited to one but decided I didn’t want to go. Schooldays weren’t the best of my life.

O.o… That was mean. 😛 Are you still writing this one, or is it in editing already? I’m sorry I can’t remember.

Still writing it but did a search on Amazon for ‘Reunion’ last night and think I’ll need to change the title cos someone got there first with a similar idea to mine. 😦

Oh, snap! What about Facing the Past or something like that, since Anna is having to deal with fears?

Yes, that might be a good idea. I had thought of ‘Encounters’ but that might be a bit too staid.

It brings to mind sci-fi. There are several spec.fic and horror movies that use “Encounters” in the title.

Good point. Hubby has suggested I still call it Reunion but with a subtitle. I’ll get my thinking cap on! 🙂

Really short but definitely sweet! And a right teaser! 🙂

Sometimes the shorter the excerpt the more questions it raises. You chose some good words here, Elaine.

I’m *very* far from my high school, but my dad still lives in Eugene, and I have actually made it to one reunion. And I had a lot more fun than I expected! 🙂

Thanks for your comments Ruth. It’s very interesting to me to read different people’s responses to this piece, in the way that some wouldn’t dream of going to a school reunion and others wouldn’t mind. 🙂
