Teaser extract – WIPpet Wednesday

I’ve got the same problem that some of you have commented on recently – that I’m gradually running out of excerpts to share from The Inheritance on WIPpet Wednesday without giving too much away from the plot. It’s taken me ages to find a suitable excerpt to share but I’ve FINALLY found one. It being the 29th today I’ve taken 29 words from chapter 13 (in line with the year – clever eh??!!). So here you are. It’s a teaser and it’s all you’re getting today! Oh and I should say, Emma is struggling. Not quite as badly as in last week’s extract, but badly enough…

She yearned for a relationship with someone and bitterly regretted the meaningless sex she’d had with Tom. She did want a physical relationship with someone. What normal person didn’t?

If you would like to take part in WIPpet Wednesday, simply post an excerpt from your current work in progress on your blog that relates somehow to the date – today is 29/5/13 hence 29 lines from chapter 13. Or it could be 29 lines or 29 paragraphs etc. Just go with it and have fun! Then add your name to this linky. Thanks as always to K.L. Schwengel for hosting.

    1. Yes, poor Emma. She’s feeling very low at this point. I’m not doing things in order though as this takes place before the excerpt I posted a couple of weeks ago. I’m gradually running out of parts of my story to post without giving the plot away!

  1. That’s it? You’re going to leave us hanging on that? *grumble, grumble* It’s devious. It’s cruel. It’s… it’s…. exactly what I would have done. Nice tease!

  2. Yep. Too right. 😉 But as mentioned I may have to move back to my other work in progress as I’m running out of stuff to share *shock horror*. Partly depending on the date that is.

      1. And those choices almost always end up being the same ones she avoided making before (when they aren’t worse)… Oh, I get a strong sense of that in your posts.

  3. Looking forward to reading the whole thing Elaine! Poor Emma, there is nothing like bitterly regretting something. It’s done, she can’t take it back, and it just highlights how much she is missing the real something her heart longs for.

And I loved your math – nicely done!

    1. Thanks Raewyn. Yes Emma is having a hard time but she’s brought a lot of it on herself. I’m sure we all know people like that but I think that we all have things we regret doing. I certainly do.

  4. I know the feeling of trying to find spoiler-free sections to share on Wednesdays! Maybe I just need to start something new? Haha.
Poor Emma, though. She can’t seem to catch a break! Looking forward to the day when The Inheritance is available in full! Hopefully in the not-too-distant future! 😀

    1. Thanks so much Emily. It’s great to have such a positive response from fellow WIPpeteers on my little extracts from The Inheritance. I just hope people will like the whole thing…There I go getting all insecure again. *sighs*

  5. Okay, okay, my brain is working on a twist to WIPpet Wednesday so we can share but not spoil. Yes, that would be the plume of smoke you see. No, the smell doesn’t mean something is burning. Unless I forgot to oil the gears again.
