Just to be a tease, this week’s WIPpet Wednesday of mine won’t follow on from last week! Instead I’m sharing more or less three paragraphs from chapter four of my current WIP. Here they are:
‘I’d been with Elliot for three years when I found out,’ Anna began.
The four of them were sitting in the bedroom Anna was sharing with Rachel. Anna and Rachel were perched on the edge of Rachel’s bed, Lizzie and Melissa facing them on the two chairs.
‘I learnt of his affair through the grapevine – I know that’s a cliché but I did. I think it was a friend of a friend who told me…Anyway when I found out at first I didn’t believe it. People we’d socialised with were saying he’d been having it off with some Russian model. But I couldn’t believe it because Elliot had always been so attentive to me, so loving and kind. I would never have suspected him, not in a million years. It took Melissa, my one true friend of our circle, to help me face reality.’
Anna leant over and squeezed her friend’s hand, then went silent remembering her final big argument with Elliot.
‘Which idiot have you been listening to, Anna?’ he’d said loudly as they fought it out in the kitchen, perilously close to the kitchen knives which Anna was tempted to throw at him.
If you would like to take part in this week’s WIPpet Wednesday all you need to do is post a section of your current work in progress on your blog which relates to the date in some way. So today being the third of April I’ve posted 3 paragraphs from chapter 4. Then once you’ve done that add your blog post to this link and then take a look at all the other wonderful WIPpeteers’ work. Thanks again to K.L. Schwengel for hosting.
And how appropriate that the first line has a reference to “three”. You planned that didn’t you? 😉 Ooh, and best never to have an argument where knives are close by!

Actually no that was a coincidence! I hadn’t even noticed – you’ve got sharp eyes. And no knives are definitely not a good idea during a bad argument.

Poor Anna – yes I could see why those knives were a temptation. I’m glad she has some good girlfriends.

The kitchen’s not a good place to be when you’re arguing!

Yeah, I think she probably should have thrown those knives…

Then again if she did she could end up behind bars! lol

Ooh, I can really feel the tension in this. Sounds like that flashback gets nasty.

Put it this way, she tells him in no uncertain terms she’s had enough!

Elliot sounds a right piece of work, I’m not surprised Anna was tempted to throw those knives. I’d be interested to know how that confrontation with Elliot ends…

Yes, he’s the type that seems too good to be true…and is! As for what happens with Elliot, watch this space.
